The nursing assistant is responsible for providing nursing care to residents; monitoring and recording symptoms and changes in residents' condition; and writing reports.
Tasks
- Review and complete records to ensure necessary follow-up and care for residents within their jurisdiction.
- Provides nursing care such as taking vital signs, intravenous injection, weighing and measuring, general hygiene care, observation and attention to bio-psychosocial needs, etc. residents, in relation to their established profile and needs in order to provide them with a state of well-being and create a climate of security.
- Pays particular attention to resident operating conditions by observing pathophysiological signs and symptoms and records relevant notes on file for follow-up.
- Ensures compliance with the basic rules of asepsis, hygiene and safety so that residents are comfortable.
- Administers medications as prescribed either by placing them in the pods (medication dispenser) or by providing them directly to residents to ensure they are taking their medication; sends urgent prescriptions to pharmacy.
- Makes, according to the established procedure, reports of accidents, infections, errors in the administration of drugs or any other situations that may affect the wellbeing of the residents so that administrative or corrective measures are implemented by management, if applicable.
- Secures residents, based on medical results or profile, by explaining their health status, by comforting with encouragement, good words, attention, etc., for the sake of their well-being.
- Welcomes, according to the established procedure, new residents, completes the health and assistance file and ensures its execution in order to provide residents with the required care.
- Uses medical equipment and devices (e.g., blood pressure, blood sugar levels, etc.) to provide routine care to residents and refer residents to medical staff as required.
- Notifies, depending on the medical results, parents or family of the health status of residents who are in a precarious situation or other to raise awareness.
- Teaches residents, according to health care standards, the care and treatments initiated to allow them to administer care and treatments.
- Participates, as required, in medical visits with the physician of record to review the health status of the residents visited and to record the necessary information.
- Completes appropriate forms and documents; prepares correspondence and routine reports as required based on available information to ensure necessary follow-up.
- Any other tasks related to the infirmary that may be requested by their supervisor
